Infrared superlattice detectors from VIGO (2-12 µm)

VIGO has produced the first superlattice detectors based on InAs / InAsSb structures.   A so-called superlattice is a system of very thin layers of two materials with a thickness of a few nm. In this alternating layer sequence, the effective band gap is freely adjustable, e.g. via the layer thickness ratio. This allows the spectral sensitivity of the material to be adjusted.
